Small Groups News

The purpose of the Immanuels Small Group Ministry is to provide a “dwelling place for our God,” welcome His presence “from house to house,” create life transforming relationships, and release the gifts and ministries of each person.

Welcome to Immanuel's Small Group Ministry

Here at Immanuel's we have four (4) "Quadrants" and 12 geographic "Parishes," served by Quadrant Pastors and Parish Pastors. Although we structure small groups primarily by geography, attendance is not limited to only those small groups within one's immediate geography.

Although each group has it's own "flavor," in most groups you will find caring, personal ministry, lifting up of Jesus, a sharing in the Word of God, prayer, worship, and a place to develop and use your gifting, as well as a place to build relationships. In other words, you can expect real New Testament Christianity!

Each group consists of a Small Group Leader, Facilitator and/or Host. Most small groups at Immanuel's meet biweekly for an average of one and one-half hours. Leaders and Facilitators are trained and are accountable to church leadership. Regular leadership training and coaching is a part of leadership requirements.

Why Small Groups at Immanuel's?

Immanuel's Church began as a small group meeting of about 12 people, gathering in the family room of Charles and Dotty Schmitt, in 1982. We have increased over the years to become the large multi-cultural church that we are today. As we praise God for His blessings of increase, it is also our desire to see pastoral care extend to everyone in our midst. The addition of "house to house" fellowship, following the example of the first century church, is God's answer for the twenty-first century, also.

Since the church is the body of Christ, you can experience a powerful dimension of His presence as believers gather in small groups. This is where fervent prayer can be focused on individual needs for healing, salvation or blessing. The prophetic anointing can be released in a measure that is not possible in our large public gatherings. We are released to minister to one another, and share the love of Jesus with a world of lost people. And you can find a true bond of Christian love as you unite with other believers in your small group.

Our Mission for Small Groups

To provide a 'dwelling place for our God," welcoming His presence not only "in the temple," but also "from house to house" and for the increase of effective prayer to cover the entire area. To create meaningful fellowship and friendship between the people of God, and the integration of each new visitor, convert, new member, and others yet to come to know the Savior into Immanuel's. To cover our whole congregation with a thicker blanket of pastoral care, extending even to the needs of those not yet part of a small group, and the development and release of the gifts and ministries of each person

(1 Corinthians 14:26)

The Four "E's " of Small Groups here at Immanuel's:

  2. Exalting the Lord in Praise, Worship and Adoration! Acts 2:47(a)
  3. Edifying the Church while flowing in the gifts of the Spirit and encouraging one another in the Word. Acts 2:42 , 46
  4. Evangelizing the Lost through prayer and creative outreaches. Acts 2:47b; 5:42

* Small groups can be described by various defining characteristics:

Home Groups - Groups often meet together according to the geographical region where they live. However all are welcomed to join any group of interest.

Affinity Groups - Groups often meet together according to shared affinities, such as gender, marital stage, activities, hobbies, work, areas of service, or major life events.

Ministry Groups - Groups often meet together according to the desired group emphasis. Some groups emphasize study, some emphasize service, others emphasize relationships, and still others emphasize activities - yet all three of these components exist in most small groups.
