Pastor Curt Maloy
Restoration of the "Tabernacle of David" here at Immanuel's

by Curt Maloy

In I Chronicles 25, the Bible describes the worship that went on in David's Tabernacle. It says that David set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman, & Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying accompanied by harps, lyres, & cymbals. It also says that these men were under the supervision of their fathers for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres, and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. We understand that this continued for some 30 years, while David was King of Israel. There were 24 groups of 12 musicians (a total of 288) who were set apart to do this prophetic worship; one group for each hour of the day. Each group had its own hour every day for 30 years.

In Amos 9:11 the Bible says that "In that day (the latter days) will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old." This is again mentioned in Acts 15:16-17. While this undoubtedly refers to the restoration of Israel in the last days, I believe that it also refers to the restoration of Davidic, prophetic worship in the last days.

On August 25, 1727, a continual prayer meeting began among the Moravians that would last for over 100 years. They believed that even as the fire on the altar of the Temple never ceased to burn, so also should the prayers of the saints continually rise to God as a sweet savor. The undergirding of this prayer meeting instilled in the Moravians a fervent zeal to see the Gospel taken to the ends of the earth & they sent many to the foreign mission field. This information is from Floods Upon the Dry Ground , by Charles P. Schmitt, page 125.

In Revelation 5:8, the Bible says that the 4 living creatures and the 24 elders, as they fell down before the Lamb, each had a harp and golden bowls filled with the prayers of the saints. This signifies the close relationship of intercession and worship. Worship brings us into the presence of the Lord & then we can intercede according to His heart.

I believe that the Lord wants to restore the kind of prophetic worship and intercession that was present in David's Tabernacle all over the world. There will be, in every region a center where worship and intercession rises before God 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I believe that the Lord is calling the churches of the region to cooperate to make this happen. I believe that Immanuel's Church is one of those churches where the Tabernacle of David will be restored.

Strategy for the Restoration of the "Tabernacle of David"

We are going to restore the Tabernacle of David at Immanuel's Church, one day at a time. Prayer will take place in the Sanctuary for 24 hours, beginning with Saturday. We will start with 8 leaders, each covering 3 hours. These leaders will be responsible for recruiting six people, two for each of their hours. When every hour is covered by at least two people, we will appoint one of the leaders to be the captain of 24-hour prayer for Saturdays. We are asking for an initial commitment of six months from each person. Each person will be responsible for finding their own replacement in the event they are unable to pray on a Saturday.

Once we have Saturdays established, we will cover six hours, from Saturday midnight to 6am Sunday. The next goal is to cover six more hours, from 6pm Friday to midnight Friday. That will give us a solid prayer base going into Sunday services. We will wait on the Lord to reveal where to go from there.

Our start date for the Saturday 24-hour prayer was May 8.

Prayer Focus for the "Tabernacle of David"

The primary goal of 24-hour prayer is to hold open the window to Heaven. The Bible says that God inhabits the praises of His people. We want to prepare a habitation for the Lord in this place, so that His manifest presence is always near us.

We also want to intercede for revival in our church, county, state, country, and other nations; for the end time harvest of souls. Our offerings here are not just for Immanuel's Church, but for whosoever will receive.

We are open to pray as God reveals His agenda to us. It would be our goal to open our doors to those from other congregations and the surrounding community.

One important thing that we want to do is to worship until we are in the Lord's presence, & to there find what is on His heart for intercession. As Ruth Heflin says in her book, Glory , "Praise…until the spirit of worship comes. Worship…until the glory comes. Then…stand in the glory."

Strategy for Training Prophetic Musicians for the "Tabernacle of David"

During the past year, we have been in the Lord's training as to flowing prophetically on instruments and in song. It is our goal and desire to impart this knowledge, while gaining more, to all who desire to learn. We have set aside most Friday evenings from 9pm to midnight to do this. We need help in recruiting musicians to fully cover 24 hours of prayer, 7 days a week, beginning with a 24-hour coverage of Saturdays.
