America Is Awakening

Never before have I sensed such a deep intercessory burden for our nation as I presently am experiencing. Preparations for the important November presidential elections in our country have coincided with my studies from the Old Testament books of Chronicles and Kings. Repeatedly throughout these books I read of evil kings who led the whole nation Israel into ways contrary to the laws of God, and who brought the nation down into the judgments of God. In contrast, there are those good kings who honored the Lord and His word and helped lead the people into repentance and obedience and the blessings of God.

Indeed, the statement in Proverbs is still so very relevant: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). There is a deep grassroots cry going up to the heavens from the Lord's church for a root of righteousness to once again be established in our nation. This cry for holiness is rising in our hearts personally as families, and then as congregations, and also as a nation. Many across this land believe that we are strategically being prepared for the greatest spiritual national awakening America has yet seen. We, the church, are being called upon to co-operate with the Lord both in humility and in repentance. Many are yielding themselves to the Holy Spirit for seasons of deep prayer and intercession. How very relevant to us is David's cry: “Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed” (Psalm 119:136).

As we gather together all over the country to seek His face, we will once again understand what it means that “blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…!” (Psalm 33:12a)
