New Identity

Biblical Change

God's View:
Romans 15:4 ; 2 Tim. 3:16-17 ; Eph. 4:22-24 ; Phil. 2:12-13 -Effective and lasting biblical change is a continuing process. You are to obey the commands and guidelines in God's word for every area of your life (your thoughts, words and actions). As you put-off the old continuing pattern of sin and begin to put-on the new practice of righteousness and holiness, you are renewed in the spirit of your mind.

Hope:
Rom. 6:6-7 ; l Cor. 10:13 -Those in Christ are freed from the power and penalty of sin. God will not allow believers to be tested or tempted beyond what they can bear.

James 1:2-4 ; Matt. 5:3-12 ; John 14:27 -Trials and testings will mature you in Christ. God's peace and joy are available to believers regardless of others, possessions and circumstances.

Eze. 18:1-20 ; 36:26-27 ; Phil. 1:6 ; 2:13 -Only God can change people. so you are not and cannot be responsbile for changing them. You are accountable to God solely for your own deeds.

Change:
Gen. 4:5-7 ; Matt. 15:18 - 'FEELINGS' - A person focused on self tends to allow his feelings to dictate his behavior. A christian is to no longer live by his feelings, but by his will and his will based on the word of God which is the will of God.

John 3 3:20-21; 14:21; James 1:22-25 ; 2 Tim. 4:3-4 ; Rev. 22:11-12 - 'DOING' - You must move quickly from the 'feeling' level to the 'doing' level. Until you go beyond the feeling level to the doing level, you will not be able to make specific biblical changes. It is the doing, changing behaviour on the basis of God's word, that our heart (root) level is changed.

Jere. 17:9 ; Matt. 15:18-20 ; Heb. 4:12 ; 5:14 ; l John 5:4 ; Col. 1:10 , Ps. 51:1-4 - 'HEART' (ROOT LEVEL) - God is primarily concerned about the heart:your sensitivity or lack of sensitivity to sin, depth of faith, reverence for God, recognition that sins must be repented when committed against God and others, your motives and intentions are really to please the Lord, and not yourself, and to live biblically even when your emotions dictate otherwise.
