Christian Growth Series, Part B
Rooted and Built-Up

Understanding the problem from God's point of view:
Rom. 12:1-2 ; Col. 2:6-10 -You are to be rooted and built-up, and established in the Lord Jesus Christ and are not to be conformed to this world. You must practice God's word to grow into maturity, and establish a biblical pattern of living.

Hope:
Prov. 30:5-6 ; 2 Tim. 3:16-17 -Since God's word is the only authority for faith and conduct and is the sole standard by which we are to live, we are not to pay any attention to what others say, but only what God says to do. God's word provides hope and gives directions for change in deeds and to develop a Christlike attitude of servanthood.

John 14:26 , 16:7-14; Rom. 8:5-11 -Only thru the power of the Holy Spirit are you able to live an abundant life.

Matt. 6:33 -We are to live according to God's word, to seek His way of thinking, speaking and acting and as we do He will provide all the things we need in life: food, clothing shelter, and the spiritual qualities we need to develop in order to live a victorious life.

Change:
Matt. 7:5 ; Rom. 15:14 ; Gal. 6:1-5 -Practicing God's word begins with judging myself and removing sinful obstructions from my own life; then, I will have the privilege and responsibility of restoring others to victorious living.

Ps. 145:18-19 ; Matt. 7:7-8 ; Eph. 5:18-20 -Prayer is essential to a Spirit-controlled life, you are to be devoted to prayer, according to God's will, and to bring everything and everyone unceasingly before the Lord in prayer.

John 3:3-8 ;10:10 ; Jn. 14:16-17 -You need to be born from above in order to recognize, admit, and solve your problems in a biblical manner. Only God's solutions, grace, empowering, and wisdom are completely adequate for abundant living.

HOMEWORK
Memory/Meditation/Prayer :
Matt. 7:5 ; Rom. 12:1-2 .
Devotions :
BSAF on, at least, one verse a day from above listed verses.
Put-off and put-on:
Regardless of what others have done to you or what life has done to you, judge yourself first on how you failed to live godly. To help you, study Romans 1:18-32 ; Colossians 3:5-17 ; 1 Cor. 13:4-8 . Make a list of what you must put-off and what you must put-on in its place. Evil is not to be restrained but replaced by righteous thoughts and deeds. Accordingly, select one major sin pattern and work it out on the VOSWS to begin conforming to the image of Christ.
