Christian Growth Series, Part B
Being Sensitive to Sin

Understanding the problem from God's point of view:
Phil. 2:14-15 ; Joshua 1:8 ; Heb. 4:12 ; Jere. 17:9 -How you feel reflects your focus on life and upon whom and what you are depending for peace and joy. Your faithfulness to God depends upon your responding to life by doing God's word regardless of how you feel. And as you practice living by God's word, He will reveal the condition of your heart, the roots of your thoughts, speech and actions.

Hope:
Ps. 119:115 ; Jn. 14:26-27 , 15:10-11 , 16:33 -God's peace and joy are available to believers regardless of others, possessions or circumstances. Holy Spirit teaches you how to live when you do the word, both the theory and the practice, both the principles and the conduct, both the morality and the behavior.

Rom. 8:6 ; Isa. 26:3 , 48:18 ; Phil. 4:9 -Man secures peace by loving God's word, by praying about everything, by being spiritually minded, by staying the mind upon God, by keeping God's commandments. Then you will have the peace with God, of God, and from God which dwells in the heart of the believer as he walks day by day in the Lord regardless of the externals of life.

Rom. 6:17-18 , 1 Cor. 6:9-11, 2 Cor. 5:17 ; 1 Jn. 5:3-5 -No matter how serious or long-standing your sin or problem, it can be overcome completely and in a very short period of time as you follow God's plan for all of life.

Change:
Matt. 7:1-5 ; 2Cor. 7:9-10 ; 2 Cor. 10:5 ; Rom. 6:12-13 -In order to put off the old sinful habits, you must first identify them, by judging your life in light of God's word, to specifically identify sin in your life, to repent and confess, and put them aside.

Prov. 9:6 , 14:16 ; Gal. 5:16-21 -List the circumstances or relationships in which you are or have been tempted to become angry or bitter, develop a biblical plan for overcoming anger and bitterness and formulate a contingency plan to deal with it. Diligently do what you have planned to avoid further sin in regard to anger and bitterness.

Eph. 2:10 , 4:1-3 , 25-32 ; Eph. 6:10-18 -Make a thorough biblical evaluation of when, where, how and with whom you commit the sin by which you are dominated and develop a biblical plan to be an overcomer in all of these situations by putting on the full armor of God.
