Same Sex Marriage & Living by The Golden RuleThe “Golden Rule,” as it has been called, is the statement of our Lord Jesus—“do to others what you would have them do to you” (Matthew 7:12). For example, if I see someone standing on a high ledge that is about to crumble and send them plunging to a horrible death, the “Golden Rule” states that I should quickly reach out and grab them, to save them from destruction. I should do for them what I would want them to do for me if it were me standing on that ledge about to fall. What some, however, are doing today in the name of following the “Golden Rule” is the exact opposite. The Guilt of DeicideDeicide, according to Webster’s, is “the act of killing a divine being.” Especially in the dark ages of institutional Christianity the guilt of deicide was increasingly placed on the Jewish people, because of what happened to Jesus in the first century. Origen referred to the Jews as “a most wicked nation” for their crimes “committed against our Jesus.” |
